Hiding the areas your business does not use, and the switches for the kitchen display, tables, the POS, readings and the Online Store.

On this page

Every on/off switch for your store is on one page, Settings → Features. Use it to turn off the parts of the menu your business never opens. A gym has no use for Purchasing or Production, for example. The same page also turns the kitchen display, tables, the POS options and the Online Store on and off.

Anyone who can edit store settings can change it: the Owner, or a custom role with that permission. Everyone else sees the page but cannot change it. Nothing saves until you press Save Changes.

Hiding areas from the menu

Switch What it hides
Services Catalog → Services. Food & Beverage stores have no Services page, so they do not see this switch
Sales Orders & Shipments Sales → Sales Orders and Sales → Shipments
Invoices Sales → Invoices
Consignment Sales → Consignment
Stamp Cards Customers → Stamp Cards
Memberships Customers → Memberships, Customers → Membership Plans and Settings → Membership Settings. Service businesses only
Purchasing The whole Purchasing area: Suppliers, Purchase Orders, Supplier Returns, Supplier Credits, Payables and Landed Costs
Production The whole Production area: Ingredients, Compositions, Decompositions, Commissary and Production Orders. For Food & Beverage stores, the Food Cost report too
Loans Finance → Loans

A hidden area leaves the sidebar and the Go to page search for everyone in your store. Nothing is deleted. Your records stay, the POS keeps working, and a link someone saved still opens the page. Turn the switch back on and the area returns.

Appointments always shows for a service business. There is no switch to hide it. You can still turn off Partners and Queue under it.

Services and Memberships also decide what a new appointment can be booked for. With Services off, a booking takes a session from the customer's membership. With Memberships off, or before you have a membership plan, a booking is for a service. With both on, Book for lets you pick. A booking made before you changed a switch keeps what it was booked for.

These switches change the web menu only. The Kassly phone and desktop apps keep their own menus and do not read them yet.

The menu suggested for your business

A new store starts with the menu that suits its type of business. When your switches differ from that suggestion, the page shows a Suggested for … note naming what it would change. Press Use suggested menu to fill the switches in, check them, then press Save Changes to keep them.

Business Turned off
Gym or fitness studio Services, Sales Orders & Shipments, Invoices, Consignment, Purchasing, Production
Other service businesses Sales Orders & Shipments, Invoices, Consignment, Purchasing, Production. A motor shop keeps Purchasing. A motor shop, car wash or laundry also turns off Memberships
Food & Beverage Sales Orders & Shipments, Invoices, Consignment. A caterer keeps Sales Orders & Shipments and Invoices
Retail Services, Production

A store that existed before this page was added keeps every area showing until you change it.

The suggestion never hides something because you have not paid for it. A locked item in the menu stays where it is, so you can see what an add-on would give you.

Switches that turn a feature on or off

These do more than hide a menu item: they switch the feature itself on or off.

Switch Card What it does Who sees it
Kitchen Display System (KDS) Dining Sends orders to kitchen screens, and shows the kitchen queue and KDS stations Everyone. Locked without the Kitchen Orders & Tables add-on
Table Management Dining Your floor plan, tables and dine-in orders Everyone. Locked without the Kitchen Orders & Tables add-on
Partners Appointments Your stylists, coaches or technicians. Off also hides the partner field on bookings Service businesses
Queue Appointments The walk-in queue Service businesses
Job Orders Appointments Job orders and service tickets Service businesses with the Job Orders add-on
Auto-Print Order Slip POS & Readings Prints the kitchen ticket, or the job order slip, whenever a receipt prints Food & Beverage, and service businesses with Job Orders
Scan-first POS POS & Readings The POS starts with an empty grid, and cashiers scan or search to add items Everyone
Show expenses in X/Z reading POS & Readings Adds an expenses section and a net-after-expenses line to the reading Everyone
Online Store Online Store Your public store page. The link under it opens the delivery, pickup and payment settings Everyone. Locked until any paid add-on is active

Show expenses in X/Z reading is off for a reason. A reading with expenses in it is no longer in BIR's expected shape. Kassly marks it clearly as non-BIR when you turn this on, but if you are going to hand a reading to an examiner, leave it off. See Closing a shift.

Scan-first POS is worth trying if you have hundreds of products. A grocery cashier scanning barcodes does not need a wall of tiles, and an empty grid is faster to work from.

For what each feature does once it is on, see Kitchen display, Table management, Job orders and Setting up your online store.
