Barcode Labels

Print barcode labels for anything in your catalog. Each label carries the item's name, its price, the barcode bars and the number under them, and the SKU if you want it. Labels print on A4 sticker sheets through any printer, or on label rolls through a label printer.

Free on every plan, including Free. Who can print is decided by the Print Labels permission, which Owners, Managers and Cashiers have by default.

Printing labels

1. Open Catalog → Products in the web back office.
2. Tick the items you want labels for.
3. Tap Print labels in the bar that appears above the list.
4. Choose your label paper and how many labels of each item.
5. Tap Print labels. The PDF opens in a new tab. Print it from there.

To print labels for one product, open it and tap Print labels at the top of its page. That lists the product and each of its active variants.

A product with variants gets one line per active variant, named Product - Variant, and each variant's label carries the variant's own barcode. The parent's barcode is never borrowed: scanning it would ring up the product without saying which size or colour was sold.

Labels print from the web back office on a computer. The Kassly app does not print labels yet.

The dialog remembers the paper you chose last in this browser.

Printing on A4 sticker sheets

• Print at Actual size (100%). "Fit to page" shrinks the page slightly, and by the bottom row every label has drifted off its sticker.
• Partly used sheet? Set Start at label to the first unused sticker. Stickers are counted left to right, top to bottom, starting at 1. The stickers before it are left blank.
• Generic sticker sheets sold locally often use one of these layouts, but not always. Measure one sticker against the table before you buy a pack.

Printing on a label printer

Each label is its own PDF page, exactly the size of the label.

• In the printer's settings on your computer, set the paper size to your label size, for example 50 × 25 mm, and print at Actual size.
• Any label printer with a normal driver for Windows or macOS works this way, thermal ones included. A printer that only works through its own phone app cannot print these labels.

What a label shows

On the label	Details

Number	The barcode's digits or text, printed under the bars.
SKU	Only when you tick Show SKU.

Which price

The label shows the price the till charges. For a variant that is the variant's own price. An item sold by weight shows its price per unit, like ₱280.00 / kg.

If you have the Customer Memory & Promos add-on and at least one of the items has a wholesale price, you can choose Wholesale price instead. An item without a wholesale price then shows its retail price, which is also what the till charges a wholesale customer for it.

How many labels

Type how many labels each item needs; 0 leaves an item out. Two shortcuts sit above the list:

• 1 each sets every item back to one label.
• One per unit in stock gives each item one label per whole unit on hand, added up across your branches. An item with no stock, or below zero, gets none. An item that does not track stock keeps the number it had.

One PDF holds up to 1,000 labels. Print a bigger job in batches.

Items without a barcode

A label without a barcode would not scan, so Kassly will not print one. The dialog lists those items and holds back Print labels until each one is dealt with:

• Generate barcodes gives every one of them an in-store barcode in one go. This needs the Create / Edit Products permission.
• Leave them out sets their labels to 0 and prints the rest.

You can also give a single product a barcode while adding or editing it: press Generate next to its empty Barcode field, then save the product.

In-store barcodes

The barcodes Kassly generates are 13-digit EAN-13 numbers starting with 04. GS1, the organisation behind retail barcodes, reserves that range for numbers a store assigns itself, so they never clash with a manufacturer's barcode.

• Unique in your store. Kassly never issues the same number twice, and skips any number already on another product or variant, deleted ones included.
• Never replaces a barcode. Only items without one get one.
• One per variant. A product with variants gets a barcode on each active variant. The product itself stays without one.
• Scans straight away. At the counter they ring up like any other barcode, offline too once the till has synced the catalog.
• Kept clear of scale labels. If your scale labels use a prefix of 0 or 04, Kassly issues from 02 or 29 instead, so an in-store barcode is never read as a weighed-goods label.

These numbers only mean something inside your store. They are not registered with GS1. If a supermarket, distributor or marketplace asks for a registered barcode, you need one from GS1 Philippines.

Barcode types

Kassly picks the bars from the number saved on the item:

Anything else: letters, symbols, or digits with a wrong check digit	Code 128

Code 128 prints the code exactly as saved, so a scanner reads back the same text. A mistyped retail number is printed as Code 128 rather than "corrected", because as EAN-13 it would scan as a different number than the one on the product.

When a label cannot be printed

Kassly checks every label before it creates the PDF. If any would not scan, it prints nothing and marks the item in the list:

Barcode too long for this label size	Choose a wider label. Long codes, usually letters and digits, need more width to stay readable.
