Services Catalog

Setting up the things you sell that are not stock — haircuts, repairs, sessions — and every way a service behaves differently from a product.

On this page

A service is something you sell that nothing comes off the shelf for: a haircut, a massage, a car wash, a diagnostic fee. It has a price and a duration, but no quantity to count.

Services are a separate list from products, kept in Catalog → Services.

Food & Beverage stores do not get this page. A restaurant sells menu items, which are products. If Services is missing from your sidebar, that is why — see Adding products instead.

Creating a service

Click Add Service and fill in the form.

Field Required Notes
Service Name Yes Haircut, Full Body Massage, Brake Pad Replacement.
SKU No Generated if left blank.
Category Yes The same category list your products use.
Duration (minutes) No How long the service takes. Marks the service as bookable, but does not set the booking's length — see below.
Description No Up to 2,000 characters.
Service Image No JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 5 MB.
Cost Price (₱) Yes Your cost to deliver it — product used, contractor paid. Enter 0 if there is none.
Selling Price (₱) Yes What you charge. Kassly shows the margin once both are filled in.
Tax Inclusive No Only shown if your store is BIR-accredited.
VAT Classification No Vatable, VAT-Exempt or Zero-Rated. Same gating.
Active — On by default.

Tax handling is identical to products, so Product pricing covers it — including what tax-inclusive actually means for the number you type.

Commission and prep time

Two more fields sit in a Commission block:

Field What it does
Commission Rate Override (%) Overrides the partner's default commission rate for this one service. Leave blank to use the partner's rate.
Estimated Prep Time (minutes) Shown on the Kitchen Display System.

Commission rules themselves live with your staff, not here. See Commissions.

How services differ from stocked products

This is the part worth reading twice, because the two look similar on screen and behave differently underneath.

Product Service
Stock Optional — turn on Track Stock Never. A service carries no quantity, no stock unit and no reorder point
Variants Yes, with their own price and stock No. Price a Long Hair version as its own service
Barcode Yes No barcode field at all
Wholesale price With the Customer Memory & Promos add-on No
Recipes Can consume ingredients on sale No. A service never deducts ingredients
Show in POS switch Yes No. Every active service is sent to the app
Duration — Yes — it marks the service bookable (but does not size the slot)
Free-plan 50-item limit Counts toward it Does not count toward it

The consequence that catches people out: a service does not consume stock. A hair colour that uses ₱180 of dye will not reduce your dye inventory. If you need the consumption tracked, either sell the product as a separate line on the same sale, or model the offering as a product with a recipe — see Ingredients and recipes.

Because there is no Show in POS switch, the only way to take a service off the terminal is to deactivate it.

Appointments and duration

Duration records how long the service takes, and it is what marks a service as bookable at all.

It does not size the booking, though. When you create a booking you pick the length yourself — on the app from a fixed set of choices (30m, 1h, 1h 30m, 2h), defaulting to one hour regardless of what the service says. Treat Duration as a reference figure for your own planning and pricing, not as something the calendar enforces.

Booking, staff assignment and reminders are covered in Bookable services and Appointment calendar.

Rentals

A service can be sold by time instead of by the job — a badminton court, a KTV room, a function hall. Tick Rentals on the service form and you get:

Field Options
Rental Unit Per hour, or per fixed block
Block Length (minutes) Required when the unit is a block
Minimum Billable Minutes Optional floor, up to 1,440
Rounding Exact, quarter hour, up to the hour, or up to the block

Needs the Court & Room Rentals add-on (₱300 per branch each month), or any bundle that includes it. Without it, ticking Rentals is refused: "The Court & Room Rentals add-on is required to create rental services."

The full explanation of how billed minutes become a charge is in Rentals.

Turning a service off, or deleting it

Clear Active and the service leaves the terminal and the appointment calendar. Kassly asks you to confirm. Existing transactions and past appointments are not affected.

Deleting is stricter than for products: Kassly refuses to delete a service that has ever been sold. You get "Cannot delete this service because it has existing sales transactions. Deactivate it instead." That is the right answer — deactivating keeps your reports honest.

Services and the Free plan

Services do not count toward the Free plan's 50-item limit. But there is a catch worth knowing: while you are at the 50-product limit, adding a service is also blocked. Free up a product slot, or take any add-on to lift the cap entirely. See Plans and add-ons.

Who can edit services

Owners and Managers only — the Services page appears in the sidebar for those two roles, the same as Products. See Users and roles.
