Your First Sale

A five-minute walkthrough — one product, one sale, one receipt — to prove your setup works before real customers arrive.

Your store exists, the app is installed, and the settings are saved. One real sale from end to end is the fastest way to find out whether all of that is actually right — and it takes about five minutes.

Do it on a quiet morning, not with a queue in front of you.

Before you start

You need three things, all covered earlier in this part:

Step 1: Add one product

Not your whole catalogue. One thing you genuinely sell, with a name and a price. The Free plan holds 50 products, so there is room to add the rest at your own pace. See Adding products.

Step 2: Open a shift, if you have shifts

If you have the Cash Drawer & Expenses add-on, open a shift first and declare the cash already in the drawer. Then this sale is part of a drawer that reconciles at the end of the day. See Opening a shift.

If you are on the Free plan, skip this. Kassly does not require an open shift to sell, and nothing will stop you.

Step 3: Ring up the sale

Add the product to the cart and take payment. Cash is the simplest first test — enter what the customer handed over and Kassly works out the change. See Making a sale and Payments.

Charge yourself ₱20 for it if you like. A real sale of a real amount tests more than a ₱0 one.

Step 4: Read the receipt properly

This is the actual point of the exercise, so do not skip it. Print it, or open it on screen, and check every line:

Check Because
Business name and address They print on every receipt from now on
TIN and any permit details Wrong here is wrong on thousands of receipts
VAT lines, or their absence This is your tax setting showing its work
The receipt number It is the start of your sequence

If anything is wrong, fix it now — in Receipt settings or Tax configuration — while one sale is affected instead of a month of them. See Receipts for what each line means.

What just happened

  • The sale is on record in the back office, with its payment and its receipt.
  • If the product tracks stock, its stock level came down.
  • The First sale step on your dashboard checklist has ticked itself. See Dashboard.

Want the ₱20 back? Void the sale or process a return. Either way the sale stays on record and shows up on your readings as a void or a return — Kassly does not erase sales. See Returns and refunds.

That is Getting Started

You have a store, a product, a sale and a receipt. Everything from here is optional, and you can add it when you actually need it:
