Price Tags (Ukay-ukay)
Selling one-of-a-kind pieces, like ukay-ukay or boutique clothes, by printing price tags whose barcode carries each piece's own price.

In an ukay-ukay or a boutique almost every piece has its own price. You do not need a product for each one. Make one product for a group of pieces, such as Tops, and print price tags for it. Each tag's barcode carries the price of the piece it is stuck on. Scanning the tag at the counter sells one Tops at that price and takes one Tops off your stock.
A product used this way is called a tag category.
Free on every plan, including Free. Who can print is decided by the Print Labels permission, which Owners, Managers and Cashiers have by default.
Setting up tag categories
The quickest way:
- Open Catalog → Price Tags in the web back office.
- Click Create Tops, Bottoms, Dresses and 4 more.
Kassly makes seven tag categories: Tops, Bottoms, Dresses, Outerwear, Shoes, Bags and Others. It puts them in a category called Ukay-ukay, so they share one tab on the POS. Rename or delete any of them like any other product.
To use a product you already have, or to make your own:
- Open Catalog → Products and open the product, or click Add Product.
- Under How it's sold, turn on Priced by tag (ukay-ukay).
- Save. Kassly gives the product its tag code.
Each tag category is one product, so it counts once toward the Free plan's 50-item limit however many pieces you tag.
What changes on a tag category
| Setting | On a tag category |
|---|---|
| Price at the counter | The price on the tag. The product's Selling Price is never charged, so you can leave it at 0. |
| Tag code | A 4-digit number, like 0012, that Kassly gives the product when you save it. It is printed in every tag and never changes. |
| Stock | Always tracked, one piece per tag. |
| Variants | None. A product with variants cannot be priced by tag; remove its variants first. |
| Sold by weight | No. Every tag is one piece. |
| Serial numbers | No. |
| Online Store | Never shown there. |
Printing price tags
- Open Catalog → Price Tags in the web back office.
- Choose the Tag category.
- Type a price and how many stickers you need at that price, for example ₱50 and 20. Each price gets its own row; click Add a price for the next one. Pressing Enter in the last Stickers box adds a row too, so you can type a whole sack without the mouse.
- Choose your Label paper. For a partly used A4 sheet, set Start at label to the first unused sticker.
- Leave Add … pieces to stock ticked to put the pieces in stock as you print them. See Adding the pieces to stock.
- Click Print. The PDF opens in a new tab. Print it from there at actual size (100%).
The page adds up the stickers as you type, and what the pieces sell for at their tag prices.
| Rule | Limit |
|---|---|
| Price | Whole pesos, ₱1 to ₱99,999. No centavos. |
| Stickers in one print | Up to 1,000. Print a bigger batch in parts. |
| Label paper | The same sheets and rolls as barcode labels. See Barcode labels. |
The page remembers the label paper you chose last for price tags in this browser.
Adding the pieces to stock
Add … pieces to stock is ticked when the page opens. Printing then adds every piece in the print to the tag category's stock in one stock-in, at the branch named next to it. If you have more than one branch, choose the branch there. It starts on the branch picked at the top of the screen.
Cost per piece is optional: what one piece in this batch cost you, for your profit reports. Leave it blank if you do not know.
Untick the box to print tags without changing stock, for example to replace tags that fell off pieces you already counted.
The box only shows for people with the Stock In / Adjust Inventory permission. For everyone else, printing never changes stock.
Printing the same tags again
If the printer jams, or you picked the wrong paper, click Reprint tags. Kassly prints the same tags again and does not add the pieces a second time, even after a double click or a dropped connection.
To print another batch with the same prices, for a new sack of clothes, click Start a new batch first. Changing any price, count, tag category or branch also starts a new batch.
Selling a tagged piece
Scan the tag at the counter on the Kassly app or the desktop app, online or offline. The line shows the tag category at the tag's price. Two ₱180 tops make one line of 2; a ₱250 top gets a line of its own.
When a tag is missing or will not scan, tap the tag category in the product grid. Kassly asks you to scan the tag or type the price. Typing a price needs the Enter Custom Prices at the POS permission, or a manager's PIN.
Older versions of the Kassly app do not recognise price tags: the scan says the item was not found. Update the app on every till before you start using them. The web back office has no POS.
Counting tagged pieces
In a stock count on the web, scanning a tag counts one piece of its tag category, whatever its price and whatever Per scan is set to. See Stock counts.
How a tag's barcode works
Each tag is a 13-digit EAN-13 barcode made of:
| Digits | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| 1–3 | Always 049, which marks a Kassly price tag | 049 |
| 4–7 | The tag category's tag code | 0012 |
| 8–12 | The price in whole pesos | 00180 |
| 13 | A check digit | 3 |
So a Tops tag with tag code 0012 at ₱180 reads 0490012001803.
- Only your store reads them. The same number means nothing at another store, and it is not a GS1-registered barcode.
- A deleted tag category's code is never reused, so its old tags can never ring up as a different product.
- The price is in the tag. To change a piece's price, print it a new tag. Changing the product's Selling Price changes nothing at the counter.
